Lyneise Williams to Speak at Roundtable

The Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History will present a roundtable discussion entitled: "How is the Story Told in the African Diaspora".

The roundtable focuses on the ways Diasporic stories are told through the arts. The discussion will be facilitated by artist-scholar and Kemp Visiting Distinguished Professor of Art History at Davidson College, Dr. Arturo Lindsay, and will feature Associate Professor of Art History in the Spelman College Art Department, Akua McDaniel; poet, artist and Chair of the Department of English at Spelman College, Opal Moore; artist and critical ethnographer at Northwestern University, Renee Alexander; and Carolina Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Art Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Lyneise Williams.

"How is the Story Told: An Exhibition of the Art od El Taller Portobelo" is currently on display at the Robert and Sallie Brown Gallery and Museum. The collection includes works by Arturo Lindsay, Sandra Eleta, Virgilio Esquina, Jose Angulo, Tito Esquina, Tatu Golden, Gustavo Esquina de la Espada and Fahamu Pecou and is ongoing through April 30, 2005.
